I was fortunate enough to find several Polar Bears, some with young, during a trip to Svalbard. Most were on land but one female was hunting seals on the sea ice. It was a slightly foggy day and the combination of the cream coloured bear on the snow, with patches of open water between appealed to me as a subject.

I am fascinated by African elephants, not least because of the environment they exist in. They demonstrate incredible social behaviour but not at the expense of individual character. I can watch elephants for hours. Surprisingly, I have only done two paintings. This one shows a family group drinking at a waterhole. It was based upon a session watching them within Etosha National Park in Namibia.
